Fun Friday Favorites: Amazing tv shows, my big week, and some fashion

Well, as most of you know, it was a big week for me.  And so, I’m trying to write my blog post of Fun Friday Favorites.  But it is SO HARD WHEN ALL I WANT TO DO IS WATCH SOME AMAZING TV SHOWS.

(In my defense, Thursday night is about the only night I watch tv.  The other nights, I’m not glued to the television set.  And this is probably because I’m not a die-hard “Alaska:  Off Road Warriors” fan.  Nor am I prone to watching a hunter whisper about just getting ready to shoot the biggest buck he’s seen.  And friends.  I’ve seen MANY “Pawn Stars” episodes and I’m pretty sure that those people are just caving in and selling their treasure dirt cheap to Rick, ChumLee, or Old Man because they are desperately needing money from playing a bad round of black jack.)

My apologies for trying to make this a little quicker than usual, so that I can get back to my DVR shows.  And so, without further ado, I give you Fun Friday Favorites.

1.  Stepping out in faith –

On Tuesday, I officially made that tough decision to resign from teaching to become the writer that I’m dreaming to be.  I’m still letting it soak in.  But.  What has helped ease my fears…well, you all have.  Again, I can’t tell you how much it means to have so many of you support me on this new adventure of being a writer and leaving the teaching profession after seventeen plus years.  I wrote all about it on Wednesday’s blog.  Resigning from teaching…The Ugly Cry

This Facebook post was one of my favorite things…seeing so many friends and family show their support!  I can’t thank you all enough for believing in me!

2.  “The Blacklist” –

The BEST show EVER!

Oh. My. Word.  You have no idea how much I LOVE “The Blacklist”!!!!  This show is amazing and I believe EVERYONE needs to watch it.  It’s suspenseful, full of action, a great story line, and it will leave you on the edge of your seat.  I didn’t watch the first season, but got into watching it last fall.  So, don’t feel like you can’t jump right in.  You will be just fine.  And you will love it.  (Do I dare tell you that I think I might have a crush on Red (aka James Spader)?  I don’t even know what to say.  Except that I believe I’d like him on my side and I’d trust him to save me from the bad guys.)

3.  “Allegiance” –

A new show, but I’m already loving it.

Okay.  I realize that I am sounding like a tv junkie right now.  For the record, I do not watch a lot of television.  And as I mentioned before, if I do watch tv, then it’s usually a hunting show, Pawn Stars, some Alaska show, or Wild Kratts.  Obviously, many nights, the remote control is not under my influence.  Except for Thursday nights.  Then, I become bossy pants and that remote is ALL MINE.  Anyway.  Last night, this new show came on after “The Blacklist” and I was pleasantly surprised.  It is suspenseful, has a great plot, and I’m already about to drink the Kool-aid.  My only concern with showing support of a television show so early (last night was the first episode) is that they could throw a curve ball in episode three and make me change my opinion.  But for now, the DVR is set to record this television show.

4.  Old Navy loose-knit cardigan –

The sand color is a perfect neutral color!

Okay.  I did it.  I’m highlighting another cardigan.  I think this would be a great piece to transition into spring.  It’s lighter weight and would look great with a pair of dark jeans for now or wear it with some white jeans in the spring.

5.  Old Navy mesh-knit sweater –

The stripes are SO springy!

This just screams SPRING.  And did you notice…IT’S ON SALE!!  That’s right, you will save $1.94 right now since it’s on sale.  Wow, Old Navy.  Killer sale.  But this sweater with a tank underneath…just perfect for now, spring, or summer.

6.  Gap Long Marled shawl cardigan –

I’m loving this sweater.

Everything about this cardigan is perfect.  The color.  The length.  The coziness.  It would look great with some skinny jeans and tall boots.  Or throw it on with some leggings.  Comfy and cozy and just perfect for all of the snowy days that still lie ahead of us.

7.  Von Maur Soprana basic scoop neck tee –

You will want one of these in every color.

I’ve mentioned these long sleeve tee shirts before, but it’s worth saying it again.  I absolutely love these tee shirts.  Charcoal is a favorite of mine.  And so is the black.  And the white.  I wear them under cardigan sweaters, my black puffer vest, my faux fur vests, and sometimes…I just throw a scarf on with this tee and call it good.  They have short sleeve tee shirts and tanks, too.  You’ll need those, as well.

If you are a fan of either of the two television shows I’ve listed above…let me know!  Together, we can be all about Red on “The Blacklist”.  “Allegiance”…what are your thoughts?  And as always…I’m happy to highlight some fashion on my blog.

BTW, I’m heading to our IF: Gathering women’s conference today and tomorrow.  I’m sure I’ll have so much to share about it on Monday!  (If you’re wanting to come to a session, I’d love to see you there!  Just check out the Facebook site IF: Local Cedar Rapids.  Then, pick a time that works and come!  Guaranteed you’ll be blessed!)

Have a wonderful weekend!
