You all. It is coming so quickly that I can’t even. The last day of school!? After today, the boys will have 11 1/2 school days left and then, sweet hallelujah…summer. Bring it. We are ready. I need a little less running and a little more staying at home.
When you feel like a gourmet cook because you were actually home long enough to cook, then you know it’s sad. Especially when gourmet cooking involves a grill and some hot dogs. Don’t even start, Sister. Grilled hot dogs are one of my favorite things to eat.
Anyway. We are ready for summer and I’m ready for the busyness to slow. way. down.
Maybe you are just dying to know what our crazy schedule has been like. (Or maybe not.) Well, Monday night Bible studies are wrapping up. The ladies and I have one more night together, as we study Gideon. I have really loved this Priscilla Shirer study. With Monday nights opening up, that means I’ll be able to take the boys to track practice and give Hubby a break.
Tuesdays and Thursdays nights, we are running here and there and everywhere as Maxim has baseball games on these nights. Did I mention that Nate has football practice on these nights, too? #divideandconquer
After this week, football will be over and Nate will have track practice on Tuesday and Thursday nights. Wednesday nights are about the only nights we are able to stay home. Friday nights, we have track practice. And then, the weekends…Saturday the boys have their track meets with the Cedar Rapids Track Club (this week, we travel to Waukee) and Sunday nights, we have Nate’s football games. (But football season wraps up Sunday night, opening up those nights for us to be home and veg. And perhaps cook something more than a grilled hot dog.) Yes. I know it’s busy, but as someone once said, “The days are long, but the years are short.” And so, I’ll cherish this busy season because the boys are having fun and doing what they love and we love watching them.
Now that you all know what life has been like around here, let’s move on to Fun Friday Favorites!
Giddy Up, Eunice by Sophie Hudson
This book. You will LOVE it.
A few weeks ago, I received some exciting news. I was chosen to be on the Giddy Up, Eunice Launch Team for Sophie Hudson’s latest book she has written. We’ve been given a copy to read before the book hits stores on June 7. How fun is that?! Well. You all. Sophie Hudson is a phenomenal writer and you’ll fall in love with her sweet Southern ways. So, pre-order a copy today (or by May 17th) and you’ll get one free! It’s a BOGO sale. And everybody loves a sale! Check out the website Giddy Up, Eunice preorder link.
2. Bath & Body Works Limoncello candle –
If you love lemon, you’ll love this candle!
Remember a few weeks ago when I shared the yummy Lemon Bundt Cake recipe? Click below for the recipe…
Well. I blame this candle for my ravishing desire to bake all things lemony. I bought this candle a few weeks ago and I absolutely love it. The three-wick candles from Bath & Body Works burn so smoothly and our kitchen smells delicious when I light the Limoncello candle. I highly recommend this scent.
3. Bath & Body Works London Tea & Lemon candle –
Another favorite of mine!
Can you tell I am in the mood for all things lemony? This candle smells so good and makes me want to sip some tea as it flickers. Except that I’m more of a coffee gal, but you get the idea. A great scent for spring!
4. Trixxi maxi dresses at Kohl’s –
This dress is perfect for summer!

Awhile back, I swung into Kohl’s and saw this dress. I bought it for Easter and I’ve loved it. I found a white denim jacket at Von Maur and I throw it over this maxi and waalaaaa. A perfect outfit for spring and summer.
Another great dress!
So. You know me. When I like something, I tell you. And I happened to love that blue maxi dress so much that I went back to Kohl’s and bought this navy tropical color, also. Again, it looks great with a white jean jacket over it. Once we are in the peak of hot summertime weather in Iowa, then I’ll forgo the jean jacket. I love the colors in this dress, too!
Yep. One more dress.
“Hi, my name is Angela and I have a maxi dress problem.”
Okay. So, I may have added this to the shopping cart, too. Listen friends. When a dress is THIS REASONABLY priced, they are practically giving it away. At least that is what I told Hubby. 🙂 In all honesty, I will wear these dresses all spring and summer. I heart maxi dresses.
5. Kut from the Kloth white jean jacket –
A perfect layering piece!
I bought this jacket at Von Maur, but it was no longer on their website. It might still be in stores, but I found this on Kut from the Kloth’s website. I love this jacket!
6. Sam Edelman Gigi T-strap sandals at Von Maur –
These sandals are great for summer!
These sandals are what I wear with my maxi dresses. I love the color and they are dressier than the usual flip flops that I wear everyday. Maxi dress + jean jacket + T-strap sandals = perfect outfit for spring
7. Celebrating Mother’s Day –
My mom, Grandma Helen, Nate & Maxim, and me
Enjoying supper at Sushi House with my three favorite guys…love them!
The boys ready to shower me with Mother’s Day cards & gifts 🙂
One of my very favorite things was celebrating Mother’s Day with my mom, Grandma Helen, the boys, Hubby, and family. It was a busy day, but we managed to squeeze in lunch at Grandma Helen’s, Nate’s football game, eating supper at one of my favorite places…Sushi House, and feeling the love from Hubby and our boys. We hope to see Hubby’s mom this weekend, as she was in Florida last week. We love spoiling our moms and letting them know how much we love them! Mother’s Day was definitely one of this week’s Fun Friday Favorites!
And there you have it. An AWESOME book that you MUST buy, some wonderful smelling candles, and your perfect outfit for spring! Have a wonderful weekend!!! xo ~ Angela Banae
